Therapeutic Approach
I have an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from components within Attachment Theory, Emotion Focused Theory, and Mindfulness Theory. From Attachment Theory I prescribe strongly to the importance of a strong and safe therapeutic relationship that allows for change to occur. Life is all about relationships, so it makes sense to me that change also occurs within relationships. From Emotion Focused Theory I draw the powerful understanding of emotions and how to understand, interact, and work with emotions. From Mindfulness Theory I value the emphasis on the present moment. Though therapy often will explore aspects of the past that have contributed to different parts of our personhood, the present mood is what we have to work with, and it is in the present moment that change has the opportunity to be stifled or presented with an opportunity to blossom.
